Nah, just loved the gotcha aspect of the concept as far as it "being put to the trolls," and, I do think I had to do actual spirituality to take the risk. I suspect it risks an apathetic response, the sound of *crickets* and Barry going off the rails saying you are an attention vampire. As if, he's not. Riiight. Assumptions: If I don't get the votes, hey, gotta look at that, ya know? I may get bopped, but the time off can only serve me to get more clarity about why I post and why I'm not a troll. Mostly, yeah, I am my only audience, and I write to please myself and possibly posterity, but "pleasing FFLers" eeeeeh, not so much. I run from most forms of pain, and as a seeker of external validation, it's tough for me to post here, so it's therapeutic just to post anything -- the sound of crickets is like an acid scrub to me, and to face that, is a spiritual event for me. When I first came here, I gave up on ever having a dome badge again -- knowing the POV I was going to opine....it was therapeutic, ya see? My time here has gotten me past my delusions of authorial grandeur too. It calibrates one's motivations with buckets, nay, vats of cold water in the face. > > Players have enough integrity to refrain from posting if they don't get the votes. > > Trolls are too cowardly to take the challenge. > > Posters who have confidence in their likeability will take the challenge. As noted, I'm a "like me" addict, so posting here as I do with my brand of poison virtually insures I'll be beat up regularly -- and I need that. I need to see that it's so not about me, so that I can let go hoping for that. To see one's mind, heart and best intentions stomped -- it is such a Martha Stewart good thing. Braces ya. Only the self validates. There is no other spiritual goal of merit. > > You get bragging rights whether you get the votes or have to honor your vow of silence. But who cares unless it's just for your personal edification? I'm not wishing to do the silence, and I wouldn't especially get off on coming back here having served my time with integrity, but, yeah, personal edification is a gold ring I'm trying to snatch. I like the illusion of "I have an intent and will see it manifested." So there's the downside: if I leave here for a month, I'll be patting myself on the back for my integrity while I'm gone. That's a mishmash, cuz pride is bad but following through on a vow is good. And, just maybe my intuition is tired of me hanging around here and has come up with a tar baby it knew I couldn't resist, and maybe I know in my bones that I want to do something else, but I'm not owning it. If I don't get the votes, there's a darned good chance I'll leave forever. Curtis escaped, so that proves it's possible to give up the pleasures here. > > Going into silence is an exercise in non-attachment, which is a biggie for Barry since he often brags about his "I don't give a shit" philosophy. You would think he'd jump at the opportunity show us that he is not just an attention vampire who deserves our disdain for habitually shooting spit-wads. > > Hey Barry, if you are willing to take the put up or shut up challenge, I will too and I'll vote for you as well. Isn't it cool to really mean it when you tell a troll you'd vote for him!!! Heaps coals on their heads. Love can only be attention. And that's the one concept that toggles my compassion for the trolls here -- they don't know how to have value to others so they shot spitwads just to get someone's head to turn for a mere moment towards them. I understand that, cuz, love is love is love no matter how it's gained. > > > > We all know that indifference is THE MOST POWERFUL OF WEAPONS. > > > > The biggest lessons along these lines are the stories of Krishna annihilating those various demons. Each demon was totally and completely freed of all karma -- never to incarnate again -- sinless -- all because the deomon got God to pay attention (that is "end God's indifference) to him for an angry nanosecond and take on his karma. > > > > That's your game, ya see, Turq? God knows I've tried be that poster, but I've failed God once again. I don't know why, but for some reason He still hasn't created a poster here who can clock you a good one. We all await God's plan to unfold in eager anticipation, but until that day, hey, take the vow, take the vow. I'd vote for ya! For you to take the vow, wow, would that be a surprise. > > > > Come on, vow wow us. > > > > Edg > > >
