I can understand why you'd think that. Live your entire life believing that you need someone to tell you what to think and how to act, and I can see how you'd come to believe that everyone needed that. Some of us prefer to live our own lives, the way we choose to live them. I wish you well with living yours the way other people tell you to live it.
