So you are, broaadly speaking, correct that Rove's lawyer says Fitzgerald told him that Rove is a subject -- along with everyone else: "that virtually anyone whose conduct falls within the scope of the investigation, including Rove, is considered a 'subject' of the probe." But as the article states, 'On the other hand, > > Fitzgerald "has indicated to us that he takes a very broad view of what a subject > > is.'" > > > > That isn't a "but," it supports the first > > sentence you quoted. Its equivalent, IMO, to the prosecutor saying he won't deny Rove is not a subject. But its not in any way as definative as the proscutor saying, "yes Rove is one of 3 specific subjects of the investigation." > > > > Yes, it is, except for the "3." > > My view, upon reading the article, is that "suject" is so broadly > defined by the prosecutor, it has little meaning. Plus, I don't think Rove the primary focus (a non-technical term) of the investigation. First, I don't think he is prosecutable in that he probably does not have clearance for the Plame info. (a necessary requirement for prosecution.) His three testimonies before the GJ, I think are being used to gain details to create a case against the person who told Rove. Chenny, Libby, Tennent, even Bush are all possibilities. And for the most part, more interesting.
