According to MMY, any/all Vedic writings can be interpreted from 4 states of consciousness: waking. TC. CC. GC (unity requires/allows no interpretation I guess). War in the material world would be from a waking state perspective. War as a metaphor for the mind might be from a TC (meditation?) perspective.
