The folks here suffering from confirmation bias who really *need* to read these two pieces--those who stupidly cling to the notion that all criticism of Obama comes from either the hard right or PUMAs and is therefore illegitimate--won't, of course, because they must avoid cognitive dissonance at all costs.
But others, especially if they've been made to feel uncomfortable by the first group, may find them of interest. Greenwald's essay deals with the inappropriateness and gross hypocrisy on the left of stigmatizing Obama's critics, pointing out, among other things, that this is what was done to Bush's critics by the right, with disastrous results: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/10/14/criticism/ http://tinyurl.com/yge3le3 Greenwald cites an essay by progressive gadfly Matt Taibbi, which begins by quoting Rachel Maddow's recent attack on those who have criticized Obama's Peace Prize and proceeds to witheringly demolish her stance: http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/2009/10/13/on-the-nobel-prize-for-occasional-peace/ http://tinyurl.com/yf6e5r4
