Surfing around on Comcast I noticed that Showtime had the 2008 movie
"Day of the Dead" at about 2 AM so I set the DVR to record it. This is
standard zombie fare with Mena Suvari playing the sexiest Army corporal
you've ever seen along with co-starts Nick Cannon and Ving Rhames.
It's about a small Colorado town that gets overtaken by a virus that
turns people into zombies.

What always has bugged me about these movies is why are the zombies so
ravenous? And why if they're so mindless and ravenous would they not
eat each other? I think it was "28 Days After" where they researched
what actual zombie behavior might be like if some virus were able to
create it. Looking around on the Internet I find various theories
abound. I'm thinking that the movies "Quarantine" (with Jennifer
Carpenter of Dexter) and "Rec" (the original Spanish film which is more
gruesome) maybe got it more right. Those films are about the mindless
violence of rabies victims.

I think at worse zombies would be a pain in the ass but easily avoidable
but that doesn't make for good movies.

Tip for Zooey Deschanel fans, she appear with her sister Emily on this
weeks episode of Bones.
