Whenever something like an earthquake or a flood or a
hurricane happens, it always seems as if there are a
number of people on Fairfield Life who like to demon-
strate their total lack of humility in response to it.

They somehow "know" that the hurricane was caused by
the licentious lifestyle of New Orleans or Iowa City.
They "know" (just like Pat Robertson) that the Haiti
earthquake is somehow God's wrath for indulging in
dark forces. People trot out "scriptures" or the
words of supposed "holy men" to "prove" that they
"know" these things.

I cry bullshit.

I don't think ANY of you "know" diddleysquat.

Shit just happens. No one on this planet, and no one
*in the history of this planet* has ever known the
"why" of why shit happens. Shit just happens.

A humble person, one who is not stoking a corpulent
ego, might be able to *deal* with shit just happening
without having to make up "reasons" for it happening,
and thus show a little humility.

Those who feel that they have to pretend to "know"
the "why" of shit happening show none.

In my humble opinion, that is...
