Please note that I was raised Unitarian Universalist and that I am NOT trying to say anything against Freemasons except to point out that many religious groups appear to believe (rightly or wrongly) that Freemasonry is incompatible with their particular religion. Most Fundamentalists are of this type, I think. Of course, there is a difference between Evangelical Christian and Fundamentalist, though the Fundamentalists would object to the distinction. Jimmy Carter is an Evangelical, as is, I believe, George H.W. Bush. His son, George W. Bush, is a Fundamentalist.
