Buffy the Vampire Slayer. An amazingly good fantasy/horror spoof by Joss Wheedon that never was taken as seriously as it should have been. As an example, arguably the most important romantic relationship in the show, that lasted for about 5 years out of 7, was the lesbian romance between Buffy's best friend and another witch. The critics and so on never even mentioned it, but made a big deal about Ellen Degeneres coming out of the closet on HER show.
