Dunno about a "new renaissance of the glory days of the
movement," but it does seem that the movement is in the
process of changing since MMY died. Bringing Jerry back
looks to me like an attempt by the movement to restore
some of its legitimacy in the eyes of the old-timers.

I wouldn't expect Jerry to become the new leader, but it
wouldn't surprise me if he were asked to give his advice
on how to bind up some of the holes the movement has shot
in its feet.
