My armchair theory has always been that Shiva may be the Jewish God.  Sheva of course is the number 7 in hebrew.  The traditional pose of shiva, with braid of hair rising up, arms outstretched to the sides, and one leg tucked under, and one hanging down, traces a star of david.  Musings. lurk I always equated Shiva with Jesus   As in   Jehesua Jehovasha shivoham Pass the butter.
