Oh, I guess we weren't, then. I dug out my badge. Mine was 6/2-6/16/84. I think you and I determined we were both there in the summer of '84 but didn't check the exact dates. I didn't realize there had been two flying blocks there that summer. I was skinnier too. And 21 years younger. <sigh> <snip> > > The landing was smooth as silk, and everybody > > applauded, led by the attendants. I'd been psyching myself up for weeks: presidents fly, baseball teams fly, business people fly, it's the safest form of transportation there is... I managed to get myself on the plane again (a different one) to St. Louis, but when it came time to board the plane to go back, I couldn't do it and took the bus instead. Ironic considering what I'd gone there to learn to do. But jeez, *two separate planes* with emergency landings, going the same place, carrying people with the same ultimate destination for the same purpose, on the same day...how likely is that? It's hard not to think something didn't want us to go. Getting approved for the course and getting my payment in also involved *enormous* complications, mail foul-ups, bank foul-ups, missed phone calls, just a wildly unlikely concatenation of things going wrong. I'd forgotten about all that. To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!' Yahoo!
