Today I got an email from a long time friend. He used to be a narc working for locals and the Feds. A bunch of his close law-enforcement buddies have been in Afghanistan for a few years teaching law enforcement techniques to the Afghans. Iâm not sure how relevant such things can be for a society that lives mostly by Sharia Law. Now he works CSI and no longer wears three guns, I think just one or two. He says itâs so much more peaceful interrogating corpses. When I asked him if everything was okay he said:
I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, the dissolution of Social Security, my precarious retirement funds ⦠all of it. After my wife went to bed, I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Lahore, Pakistan and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck. I suggested he just go down to the fun ân gun range and take it out on the silhouettes.
