If there is an "aim," then its not TM. BTW, it turns out that transcendence can be faked quite easily by inducing a very lopsided state of activity between left and right hemispheres. This is the basis of dissociative states. Coinicidentally, at least one Buddhist meditation state induces very lopsided activity between left and right hemispheres... Someone forgot to kill the Buddha, I think, and it has become a thousands of years old tradition to embrace him intellectually.
