When the router died I had a spare modem and Ethernet router. Though I was able to get the modem working not the router with it. I did almost go out and buy my own router/modem because I really don't like the 2wire that much. But if you research this a bit you'll find the way AT&T has their DSL set up it is practically impossible to get other router/modems working with it. Last year the power adapter went out. I was able to use a Sony PSP one which was identical spec until a replacement arrived from AT&T (for all of $10 including 2 day shipping). Now that they have U-Verse in the area they seem to have stores where I can probably just drop by and get replacement stuff. Not a big fan of AT&T but neither a fan of Comcast. There are third parties DSL providers in the area but they have to pay the AT&T tax thanks the Supremes. I haven't heard much more but there was a rumor that Google was targeting where I live as a test bed for their high speed service which would kick everyone else's butt.
