Hey Rick,
I have a good friend of mine who goes to JFK University here in Walnut
Creek and she invited me to a talk earlier tonight with Phil Goldberg. I
vaguely recalled hearing his name on this list. We went in about 10
minutes late, anyway his presentation was really nice and I really
enjoyed his talk, I strongly recommend his book "American Veda" to
everyone.
At the end during Q/A someone asked him about his spiritual practices
and then he mentioned that he was a TM teacher. I couldn' resist asking
him a question and asked if he knew you, Rick Archer. He did of course
and asked me who I knew you. I mentioned you were a friend and that I
was on your Yahoogrouplist..:-). My friend was glad I didn't say
anything about Batgap, and thanked me for being humble..LOL. I bought a
book of his to donate it to M.A.Center and he was very happy to
autograph it to Mata Amritanandamayi Center, San Ramon. He again asked
me about our connections and I mentioned our Amma connection as well
skipping gory Batgap details..:-), he asked for my name and I replied -
Ravi from the Bay area and Rick will know..:-). He also mentioned that
you and him attended TM training together.
I also told him I would have the book display at the MA Center because I
think its a beautiful unique work documenting the influence of Indian
spirituality in the American life from the late 18th century and I got
to know all the various personalities in the American history vis-a-vis
Indian spirituality. I was definitely impressed and proud to be a tiny
part of it living in this country.
Anyway just wanted to relate this coincidental meeting with him.
