Swami Brahmananda and other disciples of Ramakrishna http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b9/Alambazar_Math_1896.jpg ...Once, I was at the Ramakrishna Temple bookstore in Hollywood in the 70's and mentioned "Maharishi" to a devotee there; who first thought I meant "Maharshi" (since Swami Brahmananda was called the Maharshi). But when he realized I said "Mahareeshee"; referring to MMY, he burst out laughing, as if to say..."my Maharshi is Authentic and your's is a cheap imposter". (that's probably what he was thinking along with the LOL). ... Once, Baba Ram Dass was on a talk radio program hosted by Eliot Mintz and somebody mentioned MMY; whereupon Ram Dass said with a very self-assured voice: "He's still attached" (i.e. attached to money, implying that if were truly "Enlightened", he could not possibly be attached to money or exhibit the outer signs of apparent greed). ... Curious the way people judge Authenticity.
