(From a friend on Purusha) Dear Friends,
As you may know, Purusha was invited at the 11th hour (23rd hour European-style) to attend the Guru Purnima festivities, so we packed up and took off with a few hours' notice. Crazy to be sure, but worth it. This has been truly a remarkable time. There were about 2000 attendees (about half still here) from forty-some countries, including many old friends that I had not seen in 25 years or more. MERU is not normally set up for such huge numbers, but all our Meeting halls, dining halls, and such were/are in huge tent-like pavillions -- very comfortable and well-appointed, if occasionally a little bouncy underfoot. Many have been staying in hotels scattered all over the area in Holland and Germany, coming in each day by bus and car, but Purusha ended up in a holiday camp just ten minutes drive away. We were staying in threes in what they call caravans, rather cramped crosses between trailor and camper, but are temporarily in motels and soon to move into rather more spacious and comfortable bungalos. The food has been catered by Lufthansa and a couple of other companies, with professional German serving crews (consisting mostly of college-age girls who are mostly startlingly blond and happily much too young for most of us) setting up our dining room like we were real people, with cloth napkins folded into little hats, water goblets at the table, and all kinds of other nice touches we'll have to pass on to our volunteer staff (Ha Ha Ha!). I'm perhaps eating a little richer than I would like, but gradually learning that I don't have to eat everything that is served. Maybe when Sat Yuga is fully established... It's been an amazing family reunion and very blissful, but the main purpose, obviously, was/is to welcome Sat Yuga and at the same time establish the world movement on a new and stronger footing in every way -- organizational restructuring, plans, implementation steps, etc. First, the Raja program is clearly very real and very powerful. Everyone that sees and interacts with (now Maha)raja Nader Ram says that he is not just the old Tony Nader but is definitely all wholeness in his nature, deeply grounded in cosmic Intelligence. He doesn't talk much in the assemblies, but when he does, it is always very profound and exactly right, setting the tone and direction for what follows. The other Rajas, too, are deeper, more confident and grounded than they ever were before. It's a pleasure to hear them planning and discussing together for the world -- a very good balance of unbounded optimism and sober practicality. Much of their preparation was the usual rounding and delving into experiences, but the coup de grace is in the week-long inauguration, sitting through the various abhishek recitations for kingship. It truly seems to change them. And then, of course, Bevan and John and crew as ministers are always there to keep affairs rolling along. And here are some of the plans in development: * First and foremost, every recertified Governor, Raja, National Leader, and other movement person worth his/her salt is actively recruiting builders to participate in the Global Reconstruction program. This means finding at least one major builder nationally and one for each state who will sign on at Maharishi's terms to putting up Marble Peace Colonies (housing developments of vastu residences), Peace Palaces, hospitals, schools, or whatever is in line with Sthapatya Veda. The builders find the land and locate the funding, build according to our requirements, and then take 1/3 of the profit while the International Peace Government gets another third and the National Peace Government the rest. And the amazing thing is that it's happening, and everywhere! It turns out that builders now really take to the idea as the latest direction in building and want to be involved. It's just astounding. * A second major push is to expand the pilot projects in Vedic agriculture to a global scale. The 1-acre greenhouse in Vedic City, even in its first year, yielded $200,000 in revenues, and will easily double that in the next year or two, and demand in the US market is such that they can sell as much produce as they can produce. The Brazilian Maharishi Vedic Organic Honey project is also going very well. A Japanese firm that specializes in testing honey and other fine products said that this is the best honey, in terms of nutrients, anti-oxidents, and their own measure of orderliness, that they have ever tested. The upshot is that market experts like Harris Kaplan and Rajas Bob LoPinto and Bob Wynne have been hatching a huge roll-out plan to fund Vedic organic agriculture projects on millions of hectares world-wide, both to provide highest quality food and to fund coherence-creating groups everywhere. The interesting thing again is that it not only looks possible, but is positively attractive to underwriters and investors. * Speaking of Brazil, a young Vice-Chancellor of a major university in Bela Horizonte has been here for some time. He has completely grasped the transforming significance of Maharishi's programs and is ready to implement them on a broad scale in his own university (15,000 students) and throughout the area. He wants all his students to learn TM and also wants to set up a University of World Peace as part of his operation to implement the full consciousness-based education program. He also plans to lobby the government officials to get behind Sthapatya Veda and the Vedic Approach to Health. Very dynamic, clear, entrepreneurial individual. * Finally, Bobby Roth and his media team at MUM (Mario Orsatti, Ken Chawkin, etc.) have found a level of receptivity, positivity, and active interest in our programs that is unprecedented, even in the roaring 1970's. We have been getting coverage that you would have to pay $2 million for if doing it as an ad. The media not only write about Maharishi's programs, but are doing it in more and more positive terms, often writing better copy than we could do ourselves. So it does seem that a major transition is taking place in consciousness, and I for one am willing to call it the onset of Sat Yuga. Throughout all this, Purusha has primarily been doing regular program (unlike everyone else, who have been going to marathon meetings) to maintain a coherent atmosphere so that everyone else can be successful. Maharishi said that our presence has made him feel very strong and has done much to account for the progress toward Sat Yuga, and he has been so pleased with the influence that he would like us to remain for "a long, long time." Hence, he plans to build modular units for about 200 of us over the next 2-3 months. This could actually happen, by the way, assuming the authorities approve the project. We probably have more experienced architects and builders per capita here than anywhere outside an architectural convention. Meanwhile, the clock is still ticking in North Carolina. Some have already cleared out everything they want and so will stay here. Others of us need to go back to pick up things we want for the long haul and store the rest. I put in to go back on one of the first cheap flights and stay for about 6 weeks, to help with all the collective Purusha things that need to be dealt with. So depending on what our travel guys can find, I should be back in a week or so and will have access to my emails on a more regular basis then. (Till then, no giant attachments please!) So that's it. Time to find a plug-in place and send this out to y'all. May the growing and glowing light of Sat Yuga illuminate even the last faint shadows of ancient karmas in our realm and bring you only more sweetness (but without excess calories).
