Byron Katie's teaching was for me one of the best techniques I've learned in a long time, because it was: 1. Free- I took the book, "Loving What Is" out of the library. 2. Simple- Her method of self-inquiry is straightforward, and hence I rewired my brain by the time I finished the book. 3. Effortless- Nothing to remember or do. As I said, just read the book and it will seep in naturally. She suggests writing the stuff down, but for me just exposing my mind to the words was enough. 4. Interesting- She writes clearly, and there are many many examples and sample dialogues from her workshops. 5. Effective- After digesting the book (gulp), and subsequently putting some attention on the body and releasing a lot of congestion, I achieved a still mind without stories rapidly thereafter. After learning this new habit, my mind has continued to disappear or expand, however you want to look at it. For us long time meditators serious about living in the here and now I highly highly recommend it!
