In practices that involve mental methods, as one becomes conscious of subtler and finer levels of the mental plane, one can develop a type of subtle mental perception. It does not represent any sort of absolute perception or truth, but merely a subtle mental perception. For example, one might have the perception of objects being transparent and being able to see through walls - but what they're actually experiencing is a subtle fabrication, existing completely within the mind or the environment the subconscious still holds and is providing a database for. For the unwary student, the ego will jump to the conclusion "I can see through walls!", when nothing of the sort is happening.
