So, like David Frawley, you're thinking that the 'bija'
mantras came 'out of India' more than 10,000 years ago;
before the invention of writing; before the develpment
of Sanskrit; before the invention of the wheel; before
civilization; and before time itself.
What is wrong with this picture?
You may be correct, but bija mantras are not mentioned
in the Rig Veda, RV 3.62.10 - even though supposedly all
of the Rishis used to meditate!
There are no bijas mentioned by Patanjali. If there were,
would not have MMY got them from the Yoga Sutras, instead
of an having us repeat an English translation of a Yoga
Sutra verse?
According to David Frawley, there is an unbroken continuity
in Indian spirituality, long from before 6,000 B.C., in
the Indus Valley, through the Vedic Age, into the Buddhist
Age, culminating in the Gupta Dynasty, the Golden Age of
Indian Vedic literature.
Frawley says the Vedas were all composed in India, not
imported from without; they are the source of the subtle
science mentioned by MMY.
Tantric bija mantra meditation is thus more than 10,000
years old? If so, how would we know it, since everthing
before writing is considered to be pre-history?
"We meditate on the Sun god to activate our thoughts!"
"We meditate on the adorable glory of the radiant sun;
may he inspire our intelligence."
