Whilst writing MMY's biography I asked a colleague for a suggestion as to the title. He was on his way to a court at the time, he thought a little and then gave me his considered verdict, which was 'The Jury's Out'. Though that is true, opinions are floating about and I'll add mine:-
I think that whilst he was in South India in 1955 he attempted to teach others what he had learned from Guru Dev. He continued his mission, taking this meditation method outside the shores of India. But when he got to the States he found the thinking a long long way from that of his home country. For starters he was now in a Christian country and a country where people talked money. Therefore, two obvious changes quickly happened to his teachings. No more mention of 'gods' and no more mention of 'free'. Actually, if he were to make the technique he taught universal he really could not avoid this rethink about gods. However, I suspect I suspect that the technique is linked to some inner subtle reality as on the day I was initiated I got an inner darshan of sari- clad 'goddesses'. ------------------------ Yahoo!
