It's actually pretty good. It's yer classic Upstairs- Downstairs scenario, but set in an interesting period of time, just as this extravagant lifestyle is about to come to an end. Tremendous performances by the cast, pretty good writing, and sufficient plot twists to keep even me interested. BTW, given the subject of the rest of your post, the plotlines of "Downton Abbey" are all driven by the sinking of the Titanic. That is the event that pre- cipitates the events that threaten to collapse one family's world.
