Barry, This economic angle fascinates me, thanks for posting this. Prison rape and the wink wink, nudge nudge, tacit approval for it in our justice system is one of the most barbaric aspects of our "culture". I am ashamed that it is not only permitted, but now I realize financed by WE THE PEOPLE!
If we as a society are going to allow this, then I say let judges include it in their sentencing and lets have a cable channel dedicated to showing what kind of society we are with prison rape cams.We might want to include some info on when the prisoner we see brutalized is gunna get out, back into society as a CNN style ticker underneath the assault and exactly how much we paid for this rape. If we want to be another Rome then lets face what that means. Then we can face our choices as a society instead of turning a brutal crime into a punch line. None of Sandusky's victims gain anything by his being sexually assaulted in prison. But we lose something delicate and precious, the best part of our humanity by letting it happen, PAYING for it to happen.
