It occurs to me, given this talk of ego and its ups
and downs lately, that a fairly accurate synopsis of
the act that many people on this forum (who consider
themselves more evolved, more honest, more selfless,
more ego-less, or at the very least more *something*
than others) run on a fairly frequent basis could be
stated as follows:
1. Here are some things I think are WRONG with you.
2. <insert diatribe...often short-story length and
occasionally novel-length...here>
3. So there. Now you *have* to respond to what I've
said defensively, and claim that what I've said about
you isn't true, so we can have an argument in which
I can prove that what I said was true and that I rule.
4. If you don't respond defensively to the things I've
said that are WRONG with you and argue with me, that
means that something is even MORE WRONG with you.
Now I ask you: Who in this scenario seems to have a
stronger and more firmly established ego -- the people
demanding an argument, or the people who laugh at
them and ignore their silly asses? :-)
