Hurricane Sandy tests Vastu Shield effect
Last year at the end of August, our Facebook page featured a Maharishi Vastu
home situated along the Connecticut coast that had come through Hurricane Irene
without damage of any kind.
Just a few weeks ago, as all of us know, an even more powerful storm came
ashore on the northeast coast of the US and again battered this same area and
then moved far inland, bringing massive destruction and power disruption. Again
the owners of the home in Connecticut elected to stay in their home, even
though the neighborhood was told evacuation was the best plan.
Here is what the owners related of their experience:
As we entered into what was being called a storm of epic proportion and
duration, Hurricane Sandy, we took the usual hurricane precautions: got food,
water, generator in place, our custom made double front doors and our first
floor bay windows boarded up.
We lost power at about 4pm and from that moment forward and for many hours we
got pounded by sustained winds of 50-80 mph. it never seemed to let up. The
sheer force of its relentless battering on the house was eerily similar to the
storm last summer Once again we were in the position of putting our faith in
the Vastu Shield effect, especially because our home is only 250 feet from Long
Island Sound. This area was predicted to be in the RED zone for highest
flooding and most danger. Many suggested we evacuate and many of our neighbors
did evacuate but because it was not mandatory, we chose to stay within our
Vastu. Even though the experience was frightening, we kept always referring
back to our knowledge of MVA. Knowing that nature would not harm our Maharishi
Vastu home was a great comfort.
Other homeowners had trees fall on their property and one huge tree would have
fallen on our garage had it not been stopped by a neighbor’s garage. A house
across the street had a tree fall directly onto the house. Trees and wires are
down and the water came up our street but not up to our home.
This storm came at high tide and on a full moon making for higher water levels
in Long Island Sound on top of the storm surge.
As our home is higher up than any of our neighbors it makes our home
significantly more vulnerable to wind and puts our third floor “up in the sky”
all by itself making the house a perfect target for high winds during such an
event. For hours at the height of the storm, the house shook and creaked and
the large third floor windows were bowing in as the intense pressure of the
hurricane force winds pressed in on them. The only thing we lost was a tiny
piece of roof shingle, measuring about 4 inches by 15 inches, which blew off
after hours of pounding wind.
All along we had no worry for our personal welfare, knowing that we would be
OK, and our entire focus was on our home pulling through unscathed as it had
last July. I have lived in this part of Connecticut all my life and can count
the number of hurricanes I’ve experienced here on one hand. Remarkably, since
building our home according to MVA, we have had two such storms. So not only
did we survive one major hurricane last year, but now a second, even worse
event. Our Maharishi Vastu home survived a very dangerous and damaging storm
once again. Vastu is safe and sound. Even the Kalash on our roof is intact!
Other Maharishi Vastu homeowners in the Northeast had similar experiences…very
high winds and torrential rains for hours on end and yet no damage to their
homes.
One man with several Vastu structures on his property relates:
We were thankful that this storm raised the water table back up to normal after
the mid-summer drought.
Two branches of a five year old tree came down on the property but as I had
discovered that this species was in fact invasive and is inherently weak in
winds, this was merely nature’s way of reminding me to take that tree down
which I have now done! .
Another homeowner who recently completed construction writes:
The house stood firm, and even with roaring wind up to 65 mph and pounding rain
all night, the next day only one small branch had been displaced from our
enormous pile of leaves and branches in the back yard. We did lose power for 24
hours, but we stayed safe and warm.
The Vastu Shield Effect derives from the coherence and orderliness created by
the Maharishi Vastu principles of proper orientation, proportion and dimensions
that are used in building a home. The effect is further strengthened by the
placement of the home inside a fence in a way that enhances and supports the
buildings’ alignment with Natural Law and repels negative outside influences.
We may not always be able to avoid these challenges from nature but we can
certainly choose to build according to Maharishi Vastu architecture thereby
insuring the safety and comfort of ourselves and our family.
