Probably the same thing that made my mind: creativity. I like horror
films. Last night I watched "Dark Feed" which is movie in an movie that
takes place in an abandoned mental hospital. The film was more about
the politics on the set of a movie shoot than horror. The movie was
done by the writers of John Carpenter's film "The Ward". I suspect they
got a lot of ideas from attending that shoot which took place at the
closed Eastern State Hospital at Medical Lake outside of Spokane,
Washington. Cheney, Washington is nearby and yes actually named after
one of Dick Cheney's ancestors. A good punishment for Cheney would be to
house him at that hospital and sell tickets to the public to harrass him.

The film, of course, was rated "not for Buck". I also watched
"Nailbiter" over the weekend which was about a mother and her daughters
driving to the Kansas City airport to pick up the father returning from
duty in Afghanistan when a Tornado strikes. They hole up in a cellar of
a house they find just off the road and are imprisoned there by
monsters. It was very well done. Also rated "not for Buck."

I also knew a top horror writer back in the 1980s who uses a pen name
and even got visits from Stephen King. He pointed out that we might
notice that the settings of his novels often resembled some of the
locations in the local town. He didn't like to meet the public and his
publicist played him at book signings. Take out a camera and he was
gone in a flash.

And of course I am a fan of David Lynch films. His daughter has been
making a lot of films lately including directing last week's episode of
"Warehouse 13."
