Well, FWIW, I don't believe anybody can pronounce 'siddhi' unless
they pronounce it as two separate syllables (sid-dhi).
IMO, the spelling is like 'siddhi'  mainly to indicate that
that word is (internal) sandhi for 'sidh' + 'ti' [sic!], 
morphologically related to, I think, 'smR-ti'
