I was stunned to learn that Ayn Rand (yes, that Ayn Rand) considered Ian 
Fleming's Bond novels as the very best of modern fiction. (If you don't believe 
me, check out her Romantic Manifesto. Makes sense, as Bond is that ultimate 
fantasy of the dominant-male, self-sufficient - and cruel - type she obviously 
had the hots for.
