I work in the VOIP space, and it has improved considerably. Can't differentiate it from the circuit-switched old stuff. No more dropped calls or packet dropouts. And you may be able to bundle it with your cable service. Might consider also going cellular too as a cost comparison (trading portability for some add'l. $$$).
