Yup, you're right. Jeez, talk about unintuitive! The three dots aren't just so you know what the other guy said when you're replying, they're so it'll show up in your post and the folks who read it will know as well.
A person very well might not click the three dots, simply because they don't need to review what the other guy said. But everybody should do that whether they need to or not, so other people can see what they're responding to. Good work, Feste. I'd never have guessed.
