Yes, We can thank the West for that. Whenever we destabilize a country, obviously, or covertly, we leave the door open to zealots, who have been victims of this heavy-handed quest for resources and political influence. The Taliban and Al Qaida are the shadows we leave behind, after bombing the shit out of some country, or using silent, deadly drones to violently dismember a family, or ten.
Fucking over third world countries used to work so efficiently; a puppet government in our pocket and we were off to the races, citizenry be damned. Unfortunately, IEDs, cell phones and the Internet changed all that. Now, things are at a point where we will spend $400 Billion (yes, with a 'B') on a stealth fighter, that is already over a decade late (F-35), instead of using that money to directly help ourselves.
