15 years ago a home theater was the domain of the yuppies and uber rich. Nowadays anyone can afford a home theater especially if you cut the cable so you aren't paying those exorbitant monthly cable TV fees. Without that in a few months you've paid off all that gear.

But you're an old fart, Alex, according to the kids who prefer to watch shows on their 5" phones and not 85" TVs.

BTW, when is Amazon delivering that 85" set to you?

You may as well just skip the whole home theater altogether.

A TayVay and DayVayDay player? You're so retro Richard. You need a good panel HD set, a Blu-Ray player with wifi and maybe a Chromecast or a Roku box. But then don't forget the surround system with good speakers. I have a set of Klipsch speakers. Oh and you have to have a house so the subwoofer doesn't disturb neighbors.

If the chair is too comfy at our age we'll never finish a show <snore>.

The ideal home theater room will have a TV set and a DVD player and a comfy chair to relax in.

First, some definitions:

"Home cinema, also commonly called home theater or home theater, refers to home entertainment systems that seek to reproduce a movie theater experience and mood, with the help of video and audio equipment in or outside a private home."
