Feng Shui certainly "links habitat shape and orientation with enlightenment," the comment I was responding to. For example, from one Web site: To observe the science and art of Feng Shui means to put oneself and one's physical placements into the 'right placement' in space and time in order to receive the beneficial flow of energy from the universe. At a more subtle level this means that if you are placing yourself into a situation whereby you can receive the beneficial flow of the universe then it means you are placing yourself into a position to receive the opportunity. When we are truly aligned with our Feng Shui we are aligned on all levels of our being. This means, physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually aligned to "the highest or best potential" within our lives. http://www.fengshui.com.au/html_about/about_destiny.htm As to building a new house versus adapting an existing dwelling, you can do either with both Sthapatya Veda and Feng Shui; but in both cases better results are said to be obtained if you start from scratch. And note that the language used was "requirements for RAPID growth of higher states of consciousness" (emphasis added). It's not that you can't become enlightened without proper Vastu, but that proper Vastu *facilitates* enlightenment. Same with Feng Shui (or so they say). The idea of being in harmony with the environment through external as well as internal means is by no means unique to MMY, and there's usually a spiritual component to it, or at least there was originally. ------------------------ Yahoo!
