In writing, what he suggested was the reason that some people liked it is that NPD writing is often an almost non-stop, narcissistic babble of obsession with oneself. What certain people like about that is that it reminds them of the similarly non-stop, narcissistic babble going on in *their* heads. They identify with the NPD writers' way of thinking and expressing himself, because that's how *they* think, too.
