I love Adyashanti's writing. Or I should say, the tone of them. Very down to earth yet rich. Clear and authentic. I think he's very very highly developed. For me, the next step is exemplified by Fr. Keating. I just donated Fr. Keating’s latest book, “Reflections on the Unknowable” to the FF public library. The first part of it is a transcript of my BatGap interview with him. Yes, but I don’t like the word, because it has too much of an ultimate, static connotation. He’d be the first to admit that he’s still progressing, deepening, etc. But he’s well along the way. Has quite a “vibe” about him too. I had lunch with him and could really feel the Shakti. _____ From: "'Rick Archer' r...@searchsummit.com <mailto:r...@searchsummit.com> [FairfieldLife]" <FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> > To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sunday, June 8, 2014 3:03 PM Subject: RE: [FairfieldLife] Why I am not fond of the word 'truth' From: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> [mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Sunday, June 8, 2014 12:38 PM To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: [FairfieldLife] Why I am not fond of the word 'truth' From: "'Rick Archer' r...@searchsummit.com <mailto:r...@searchsummit.com> [FairfieldLife]" <FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> > From: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com <mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com> [mailto:FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com] This is what I don't like about a teacher whose name I am having a total mental block on right now. I think he's formerly Zen, now a big deal on the New Age circuit. I think Rick has either interviewed him or posted things he's written to this forum. Anyway, for those who can figure out who I'm talking about, ... Adyashanti? my issue with him is that he can't seem to get through more than three sentences without using the word 'truth.' And it's always spoken as if to imply that his 'truth' SHOULD be your 'truth' as well. You'll only really understand 'truth' when you see things the way he does. That's the guy. Thanks. I haven’t read everything you’ve written in this thread, but in Adyashanti’s defense, in my opinion, he’s one of the more mature, open-minded, and nuanced spiritual teachers out there. He may use the word “Truth” in an ultimate sense, but by definition, he would acknowledge that an individual perspective can’t monopolize it. He seems pretty adept at tuning into people where they’re at, and offering something of value. Have you really read or listened to him much?
