Jim, when you get here to Fairfield, Iowa look around the shops and coffee houses for a copy of the Fairfield Weekly Reader. The meditating community generally schedules itself through the Fairfield Weekly Reader. Let us have coffee when you get here. Best Regards, -Buck
There is so much to do and so little time to do it all here. Lot of people get the Fairfield Weekly Reader when it is published on Thursdays and get out their own calendars and schedule their coming week. There is a tremendous amount of high level and spiritual culture here functioning in lots of guilds and satsang. Anyone can find groups interested in what they are interested in. The meditator community is generally an over-educated group and as such it tends to be an interested and activist's community. That is a lot of what makes the place so special. Being here for four decades now this is quite facilitated and developed now. It is quite spiritual that way, in so many ways. -Buck It is true the four seasons are fully expressed in Fairfield, Iowa. I work outside in them and I love them all. Fairfield is a great place to live and incredibly spiritual. Just this last weekend there were some deep and incredible spiritual satsangs in town also as a huge music festival was going on around the square and downtown. There are lectures and things going on up on campus all the time too. Other places are nice to visit but this is a fabulous spiritual place to live and grow that speaks a common spiritual language. That becomes the community, -Buck In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, <mjackson74@...> wrote : You could join with the official meditators - the MUM officials would just give you weird looks and "encourage" you to become governors as soon as possible. If you like Fairfield enough to move there then you could just start your own regular group. Having once lived in Fairfield, I suggest you make a couple visits in December and January to get the full flavor of the place. I had one mild winter there and one brutal one. You won't know Fairfield till you have wintered there. nablusoss1008 <no_re...@yahoogroups.com> To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, June 23, 2014 2:49 AM Subject: [FairfieldLife] Re: Unofficial Group Meditations in Fairfield Hello James, You seem to be a honest soul who preffers to stay out of negativity and have been regular in meditation so there would be no reason why you should not be able to join group meditations. The question is if such groups excist for TM'ers only. Simply contact the MUM course office to find out while you contemplate whether it's now time to learn the TM-Sidhis and join the big groups in the Domes. I haven't been in the Domes in Fairfield for 20 years myself but I have friends who travel over there regularily just to meditate in the big group and their reports from the effect of being in such a big group are simple marvelous. Good luck to you and Jai Guru Dev ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, <jimonthemove@...> wrote : Hi Folks. My spouse and I are visiting FF in a couple of weeks. We both were involved in the TM movement throughout the 80's to about 1994 (in Fairfield from about 1989-1994), but have had zero involvement with the movement since then. We have continued with TM (not the sidhis) over the past 20 years as we raised a family, ran a business, and such. Anyway, we are now at that time when family are on their own and we're thinking of what's next for us. From what we've read about Fairfield, it seems that it might be worth checking out (thus our upcoming visit). My question for anyone here who might have some information: Is there any 'unofficial' group meditation program (TM) in Fairfield on a regular basis? We're assuming that 1) because we have no-one to recommend us (which at least was the way it used to be way back when) and 2) because we are both TM teachers who don't practice the sidhis, we will never be allowed to join any 'official' movement group meditations. Also, for many years we have been practicing 40 minutes of TM twice a day (not 20 minutes). Any information or leads would be appreciated. Since I found this group a week ago, I've been browsing here and there. There seems to be quite a range of opinions about TM/the movement/the politics, etc. (to put it mildly...:). We left all of that many years ago so we have no interest in those conversations, but we appreciate what Maharishi gave us and are very happy with TM. Best, Jim
