Luc Besson has done some great work in the past, but he is not to be relied upon these days. He has so MANY projects going at once -- as writer, producer, director, or all of the above -- that inevitably some of them turn out OK, and others...uh...not so much. But when he describes his intent for his new film "Lucy" as a combination of "2001," "Inception," and "Leon: The Professional," it's worth a watch.
And I thought it was pretty damned good. Yes, it uses that same tired, untrue cliche about man using only 10% of his brain that isn't really true, but he uses it as more of a metaphor than anything else, popping up "percentage counts" as Lucy evolves and starts to use more and more of hers. Good action, not braindead scifi, and overall pretty entertaining.
