Share, IMO the church is saying that all women have a choice. They can have sex and children which is perfectly acceptable and human. Or be a virgin like Mary which is acceptable as well if that is their preference. I have to say that Mary stands alone. She is strong and special and chosen. Did she really act as a vehicle for a virgin birth? I have no idea but to say that she did does not in any way denigrate her. It doesn't belittle her or imply anything about women except that they are, presumably, suitable vessels to carry a God. Sounds pretty good to me.
