Share, "sloppy thinking" is exactly that. For example, being too lazy to read a
chart and thus reading its results completely backwards before spouting off
about one's *completely wrong* interpretation of those results is sloppy
thinking. So is using language the way JohnR just did, portraying matters of
belief as if they were statements of fact.
Pretending that such thinking is permissible is NOT a favor to the people
indulging in such sloppy thinking. Another word for the "sweet truth" you seem
to prefer is "a lie that allows us to continue being such sloppy thinkers."

turq, I think the phrase "sloppy thinking" is itself an example of sloppy
thinking. How can thinking actually be sloppy?! I bring it up because it's one
of those phrases which suggests a lot and prejudices a lot but ultimately is
not useful. IMO better to say that only a small portion of someone's brain is
firing, or something along those lines.

Yahweh is IAMWHOAM and does not have a manifested body although It is known by

JohnR, I'll follow up on this because it raises the very issue I just posted
about to Lawson. You're using the language of *assertion*, as if the things you
are asserting are FACT. Why shouldn't that be considered the very
Fundamentalism you've suggested in other contexts isn't a good thing?
Don't you think that in the interest of fairness you should refer to all of
these characters as what they are -- fictional? Or at the very least you should
probably specify that what you are talking about are things that some people
*believe*, but that do not come anywhere near the definition of fact. If you
disagree that these characters ARE fictional, you know that all you have to do
is show them to us. Right?
My point -- as it often is -- is that sloppy language is an indication of
sloppy thinking.
