Alternative practitioners pay attention to contemporary research more so
than conventional doctors who only will use it when their drug dealer er
pharmaceutical rep shows up at the door. As a result many alternative
practitioners are years ahead of the conventional crowd.

The article below has a bit more detail and points up a problem with
the statistics given:
'The study was not without its limitations, however. The researchers
conceded it was difficult to parse “what was said and what was
implied.” And some of the recommendations were extremely general —
“sneezing into your elbow prevents the spread of germs” — and
consequently difficult to find in medical research, let alone
substantiate.'
Does anyone really believe that you must find research to confirm that
advice? But, the way the study was done, common-sense advice, since it
doesn't have specific research confirming that advice, is counted as
part of the advice that has no evidence.
Unless a specific study has been done to show that sneezing into your
elbow does NOT reduce the spread of germs (as opposed to sneezing into
the air or into your hands and then walking around touching things),
the advice seems reasonably valid, and only someone with an
anal-retentive need to show how bad Dr Oz with would even bother to
count it.
Half of Dr. Oz’s medical advice is baseless or wrong, study says
