Well today is the national celebration of the excesses of capitalism and
fascism: the Stupid Bowl! Or I mean Super Bowl. Even when I had cable
I never bothered to watch it. And when movies were affordable it was a
good day to see a film until other folks caught on to the idea. So what
do I read at the top of the news today but how surrounded the stadium is
going to be by swat teams and patrolled by military helicopters. This
is what America has come to: a reality that rivals about any science
fiction writers vision.
What do you reckon, viable terrorist threat or the politics of fear?
I'm sure that they like keeping us scared so new surveillance and
police powers can get passed without any protest. We've just heard
that all police will now carry tazers for anti-terrorism purposes even
though not a single bit of politically inspired violence would have
been prevented or halted by them! It's just an excuse because they are
too fat and lazy to apprehend crim's the way they are supposed to.
You're correct. They want us like chickens in a coop. I won't go along
with it. "Babylon" is pretty good about the problems Scotland Yard has
especially allowing officers to carry guns. Here they like to use
ordinary citizens as target practice.
BTW, I see India getting into the act and watched half of a movie called
"Mardanni" about a woman Mumbia police officer who goes after human
traffickers after they abduct an adopted daughter. There's no dancing
around trees either but it's probably a bit too much for an India TV
series so they did a movie. It's on Netflix. MJ should watch to see
what I mean about "Indian culture" and how MMY was just being "Indian"
about many things.
