I guess it was some forty years ago when Barry ceased his connection with the
TM movement.

Depending on exactly when Al Gore invented the internet and chat rooms came
into existence, Barry will be approaching a date when every day, for over half
his life, he talks about his old teacher, and the movement this teacher founded.

And this is the guy, who says his interest here is in studying obsessive
behavior.

*Of course* the TM movement is a cult. What other type of organization would
feel it had the right to tell its members who it can and cannot "see" at a
public conference? And what type of people other than cultists would do what
they were told?

The Movement is just inching a little closer to admitting they are a Hindu
cult.

Does this mean it is now okay for Governors to see Ammachi?

With regards to gurus and hindu celebrities, this is indeed an impressive
lineup, for example Swami Ramdev is afaik the most successful guru in India at
the moment (and also the most political). Ammachis represenative is there, but
somebody forgot to call Sri Sri, I am sure he would have liked to come to the
conference.
