It doesn't matter what you believe in. But it's the reasoning that counts. What is being discussed here is the principle being presented by the theologians--even if you think the stories are only metaphors.
As a matter of fact, there are some theologians who argue that Lucifer actually relinquished his angelic nature and accepted suffering in Hell for the sake of love in doing God's will.
