A sad day in this household. Always a fan.

Several weeks ago the Portland Symphony conducted the score live to the 2009
Star Trek movie which included a 100 member choir. The film was shown with
dialog and effects turned way down so as to not interfer with the live
musicians, but subtitles were below the screen so that one could follow the
dialog. It was tremendous. An extraordinary powerful score.

Anyway, as old as Nimoy was in the film his presence really made the picture
for us old fans. And the film also gave him greater range since as an old half
Vulcan / half human, he came to terms with emotions, which allowed greater
warmth in his character.

Very few of the Star Trek cast members were great actors, but they touched our
lives at impressionable times and in a humanitarian and optimistic fashion
during a very dark time of world history.

Go boldly, Mr. Nimoy, on your continuing voyage.
