Don't know what they have planned, but a sustainable golf course is possible. There's desert courses with no grass and only sand and pebbles, for instance. Just have the land smoothed and let the weeds grow and never water except for rain -- mowed weeds are pretty good golf surfaces.

While there are some that claim to be including here in South Carolina, they can only be held to be eco friendly or sustainable in comparison to regular golf courses. Golf courses are notorious water hogs, some use hundreds of thousands of gallons a day for irrigation alone. How do you think the greens stay so green? And the levels of artificial fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides used are unbelievable. But they have to use them to make the greens green and keep the insects away from the golfers.
