You should be thankful. When I was a kid, Houston was like that. Nobody locked
their doors and even left their keys in their cars. There are still small towns
everywhere like that but they are getting to be fewer and fewer.

Wiow, Mike, I can tell you don't live in Fairfield! We Fairfielders have no
reason to think like this. We do not have "home invasions." I often don't even
lock my house at night. There's a lot to be said for small-town life in the

know, call the police, that's what they are for. That doesn't do you any good
if response time is several minutes at best. Then there are common burglaries
where people come home to find the burglar in their home. Armed robberies in

We are definitely never going to agree on this subject but I'll say one last
thing. Guns are creating more problems than solutions. They allow cowardice and
paranoia to become even more lethal. They allow crazy people, angry people and
cowardly people to use lethal force any time they want to. We are all at risk
every day of our lives from something. I can guarantee you that if no one
carried or possessed a gun (an impossible scenario at this point) there would
be far less fear everywhere. Baseball bats and fists are preferable.

We need drastic gun control now! This is a serious civil rights issue. The gun
nuts may rant about their 2nd Amendment rights, but their precious 2nd
Amendment is dripping in blood and has been for a long time. What about my
rights as an ordinary citizen to walk the streets, go to the mall, go to
church, without the fear of getting shot?
We need a mass, citizens-inspired movement that will make the government
fulfill its responsibilities to protect our safety. No guns for anyone unless
they have a very compelling reason to own one.
There is no compelling reason to own a gun unless you live in the wilderness
and need to hunt game for food. Period. Guns are for cowards.
