in my experience.
God *help* the French administration that
tries to fuck with what the French consider
"basic rights."  The last time an adminis-
tration tried (in 1999), the French staged
a nationwide general strike.  Nothing moved
in France -- no trains, no planes, no taxis,
no Metros, no trucks, nothing.  There were
no services like garbage collection; only
the hospitals and emergency services were
excepted from the strike.

The result?  The French government caved in
and abandoned its plans to change the disputed
policies in less than two weeks.

I think this proves the French can argue well among themselves, but could the French stand up to and defend themselves against an external enemy?
