FFL.. Someone recently gave me some SRM newsletters [Spiritual Regeneration
Movement Newsletters]. In conversation here in Fairfield, Iowa this person
mentioned they had them from the old days. I asked what this person was going
to do with them? This was an old meditator from way back who grew up in
California when Maharishi was out there and Charlie Lutes with Walter Koch were
right-hand people of Maharishi's. I have been working with special collections
of source material on the TM movement for a while now and mentioned to this
person that this kind of thing in particular would be of interest to some of
these scholarly library collections. The person thought about it for a little
while and gave them over to me to send on.

Reading them now is real interesting. They are pre-'transcendental'
meditation, pre-siddhis, and before the secularization of the presentation that
become so heavy ladden with science. The Newsletters are from 1961, '63, '65
and show the progression of things TM from the 1950's. They pre-date the
International Meditation Society and Students International Meditation Society
which came in after that period, as more 'meditation guides' were taught and
the TM teacher training courses evolved. These SRM newsletters have these
wonderful [more un-bridled] descriptions of spirituality. -JaiGuruYou

FairfieldLife (FFL) at yahoo-groups from its beginnings has had a utility in
communal ways. As a place for ideas I find that I gain a leverage in a way of
sharing critique by forwarding particularly insightful FFL posts over to people
both inside and outside the of TM movement as connecting communication in
sending links to people and officials in the movement itself but also to
journalists, authors, and academics who are outside looking in.

Some lot of what I do write and compile here as posts on FFL is voiced to
audience who are outside of FFL who may come to read FFL through its
Yahoo-groups web page interface.

As this turns out some people more recently both in the .orgTM movement and
the Communal Studies Association have taken a more keen interest in the mental
health issues around the communal group as they have learned more about it by
looking at it. The communal issues are really quite interesting to others
looking in. You'll notice I have dragged up some of those kinds of posts more
recently from the archive and brought them closer to the top to find them.
Different people have other aspects they follow about the culture and the .org
of TM. There certainly are nuggets in the dross of FFL that can be found. It is
amusing in its way to hear from the range of folks who do read here. The
archive of FFL evidently has its place in history, -JaiGuruYou
