So your dad never offshored?

Business people just do what is good for their bottom line. The way you solve this is by taxing corporations heavily for offshoring. Make it worthwhile to bring manufacturing back. They'll wince because Jimmy down the street isn't as reliable a Xin Wu in China.

No Ann, you're missing the point. He knows how to get things done. He makes use of what he's given. You hear the expression *if life gives you a lemon, make lemonade out of it!* He knows how to accomplish what he sets out to do, given the tools available. Yes, he could make his own products here by himself and compete with those using China or Mexico with current trade laws. Or he could change the trade deals so that its favorable for others to do the same, making it more competitive to be made in America.

A person who really believes in something (ie, let's support American workers by actually hiring them) would never, ever - for the sake of a buck - abandon those beliefs and have their (in this case) merchandise manufactured elsewhere. Why is this so hard for you to understand? It is a simple point, an elementary logical question, given the context. Are you this stubborn or dense or simply willing to tolerate blatant hypocrisy?

MIKE, YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT. HE IS A HYPOCRITE. WHEN DO YOU THINK HE DECIDED THAT KEEPING JOBS IN AMERICA WAS A GOOD THING, SOMETHING HE WANTS TO ENCOURAGE? OR, DO YOU THINK HE NEVER GAVE A SHIT AND STILL DOESN'T BUT HE IS SIMPLY LYING TO FOOL PEOPLE INTO BELIEVING HIM AND VOTING FOR HIM? WHEN DO YOU THINK HE HAD HIS 'CONVERSION' TO WANTING TO 'MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN' AND CAME T! O BELIEVE CLOSING ALL LOOPHOLES OR DISALLOWING MONETARY GAIN AS A RESULT OF PRODUCING OFFSHORE CAME ABOUT AND WHY? DO YOU THINK WHEN HE DOESN'T BECOME PRESIDENT HE WILL STOP MAKING HIS CRAPPY PRODUCTS IN OTHER COUNTRIES? DO YOU HAVE $1000 TO WAGER?

Yeah, he said he has. He also says he didn't set up the system.

There is no "system" and no one is forcing him to make his baubles overseas. I know many manufacturers who have felt strongly enough about making their goods on this Continent that they have continued to do so. I have no problem with companies employing people in poorer countries to make North American goods but I do have a problem with hypocrites like Trump who say one thing and do another. Who sells a big fat lie to the American people while not supporting one iota anything he says. So don't give me any bunk about any "system" -! no gun was held to Trump's head to move offshore with his products.

Yeah, we should be doing a whole lot better. However, we've been shipping our manufacturing jobs over seas, fewer higher paying jobs here. We allow people to come here to take the lower paying jobs that seem to be beyond some people's *dignity* level, although food stamps, unemployment and welfare aren't. Where are those smart phones, smart TV's etc. made? We've become a debtor nation, borrowing to meet our needs and service oriented in what jobs remain. When God spoke to the children of Israel, He told them that if they followed His laws(in tune with dharma), that He would make them the head and not the tail, the lender, not the borrower, the master not the servant. In other words, fall out of dharma a! nd you become the tail, the servant and a slave to your lender because you'll depend on him to meet your need.
Any of this sound familiar?

The median home income should be way up, more women are making much more money at least until 2007, more two income families. More people in the world are much wealthier, China, South American countries. and there is a lot of neat things we have with tremendous value, smart phones for example, which we didn't have in 1973. A lot of what wealthy people own is really at service to society, stocks in companies, but we do have to look at excessive use of natural resources, like ozone.
